The Seagulls are in a relegation battle with four other teams namely Newcastle United, Burnley, West Brom and Fulham. Two teams from those four abovementioned teams would join already relegated Sheffield United in the English Championship next season.

Brighton moved seven points clear of Fulham in the final relegation place with the draw at Stamford Bridge. The Seagulls could have won the game in the second half if they were more clinical. Ex-Manchester United, Arsenal and Sunderland striker Danny Welbeck struck the crossbar for Brighton in the second half in what was the closest either teams came to breaking the deadlock.

With the draw at Chelsea, Graham Potter and his Brighton players have not won any of their last three games in the league on the back of the impressive 3-0 thrashing of Newcastle United at home.

Since the Newcastle United game, Brighton have drawn twice and lost one of the three games played in the Premier League till date. The Seagulls were beaten 2-1 at Manchester United in the league match immediately after the Newcastle United game despite taking a first half lead. The Red Devils scored twice in the second half to secure the three points.

Brighton then played out a goalless draw at home to Everton and away to Chelsea in their last two games on the back of the Manchester United game. A two-match winning run had preceded the Newcastle United match.

As things stand on the table, Newcastle United are in 15thspot with 35 points, while Brighton are in 16th place with 34 points. Burnley are in 17th place with 33 points.

Fulham (18th) and West Brom (19th) are in the relegation zone with already relegated Blades with 27 points and 24 points respectively.
