Ex-Arsenal star Hayden received his fifth yellow card of the current Premier League season during the Manchester City game at the St. James Park on Sunday afternoon. He was unable to prevent Newcastle United from a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of the Premier League champions with two goals coming in each half. The Portugal international duo of centre back Ruben Dias and full back Joao Cancelo scored in the first half to give Manchester City a 2-0 lead at the half-time break before Algerian national team star RiyadMahrez and England player Raheem Sterling added further goals in the second half to make it a comprehensive scoreline.
Manchester City were able to extend their lead on the Premier League log to three points with the big away win over Newcastle United after closest rivals Liverpool could only play out a 2-2 draw in their own game. The Citizens had a one-point lead going into the latest set of Premier League and it was increased to three points with the Liverpool draw.
For Newcastle United, they remain second from bottom and three points away from safety despite the loss at the hands of the Premier League holders. The Magpies have now lost their last two games by the combined scoreline of 8-0 on the back of their first win of the current Premier League season. Newcastle United recorded their first win of the season by beating fellow relegation rivals Burnley 1-0 at home through a Callum Wilson strike in the first half. Since then, they have lost 4-0 to Leicester City away from home and 4-0 to Manchester City at home.
